KC5 | God’s Purpose for My Life – Let’s Talk About Starting the New Year with the Power of Goal Setting

“I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:14 (NKJV)

KC5 continued the Purpose series by exploring goal setting as a Kingdom responsibility and discipline. This conversation focused on how aligning our goals with God’s purpose enables intentional, faith-filled living rooted in clarity rather than pressure.

What We Explored

Why Set Goals at All?

We explored why goal setting is essential for fulfilling purpose and why many people, including believers, avoid setting goals. Fear of failure, past disappointment, and lack of clarity were identified as common barriers, with the reminder that avoidance is often rooted in uncertainty rather than lack of faith.

A key emphasis was that goals must flow from purpose, not replace it. Fulfilment comes from pursuing goals aligned with God’s calling rather than self-improvement for its own sake. Biblical examples such as Joseph and Philip illustrated how God’s purposes unfold progressively through different seasons.

Jesus as Our Model

“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”
Luke 2:52 (NKJV)

Jesus was presented as the ultimate model for holistic, purpose-driven growth. This scripture framed goal setting across mental and spiritual growth, physical discipline, relationship with God, and relationship with people.
